Alex is a Naarm (Melbourne) based documentary filmmaker whose work explores the intricacies of human experience with a cinematic sensibility rooted in empathy and curiosity. With a versatile skill set as a Director, DOP, and editor, she has worked extensively across a wide range of visual mediums.
A graduate of the European Film College in Denmark and the Master of Documentary Film and Television program at the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne, Alex has screened her short films at festivals and arts institutions locally and internationally. She has also worked as a cinematographer in Australia's creative arts and dance industries.
In the past year, Alex has shot Faceless, which won Best Australian Short at the Dendy Awards at Sydney Film Festival, and Silent Night, which placed third at Tropfest. Her short, No Prior Opportunity, which she directed and edited, screened at the Melbourne International Film Festival.
In her professional life, Alex is the Head of Moving Stories at Pressroom, where she directs and produces documentary-style videos for charities and not-for-profits all across Australia. Alex is a proud member of Dogmilk Films—an independent filmmaking collective dedicated to the promotion and production of alternative and ambitious cinema.
